Leeds

Hello everyone. Well, after such a great and drunk sunny time in Cardiff and London we were back on the road to Leeds. Sadly the heavens had opened and the booze and lack of sleep was already taking its toll.

However, after a little Arrested Development the boys popped on the Pavement documentary ‘Slow Century’ which kept them happy in the back.

The traffic was bad but we made it in time. The venue was………………….well full on weird to be honest. Basically a pool hall where people went for some 90s indie and a pint after work! We were a bit wet and miserable and not really looking forward to it. No soundcheck + weird venue = Nerves. However we went on and after a couple of technical issues actually did a half decent set. ‘Trying To Be Good’ and ‘Matter’ didn’t go down so well as it was quite noisy but hey ho we enjoyed them. All in all it was way better than we thought it would be. I think the fact that London the night before had been such a great gig kind of cast a shadow over this one, which was a shame. Again a few friends of ours came down to see us which was great. Thanks guys, you know who you are. We also had a few Ep sales and an enthusiastic response from a few people, which really meant a lot to us so thank you.

After loading the van back up and Richie having an encounter with a really retarded bouncer it was time for one last drink before we hit the road.

To be honest, Leeds was a good laugh. I do hope we go back.

Gob - With Spicy Club Sauce!

Gob Kept us going today! Quote of the day "WITH CLUB SAUCE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday Morning

Back on the road. Just trying to navigate our way out of London (Ain’t so easy!). Yesterday was great. I think I speak for us all by saying that it was a wicked gig. Our first London show and we somehow managed to be the headliners and had a good sized crowd. A pleasant surprise. Thank you to The Fly for having us:

It was so nice to catch up with old friends, some who I haven’t seen for a couple of years. You made the night a special one. Everyone had a great night. Katie Stelmanis (Main Support) played a wicked set. Definitely keep your eyes and ears open for her.

Here’s our stage:

A good size but there’s so bloody many of us we’re always squashed up together. Intimate but nice. I wonder if we’ll acquire any more band members this year. Maybe mandolin. Or the sitar. Triangle would be good. I wonder what it’d sound like with two bassists! I think I’m the only member of the band where there’s just one of me. Oh no. Me and Tallah.

So yes, it was a party long into the night. I left the guys to go with a few friends over to another part of London that I can’t remember the name. We ended up in this great little pub called The Castle. Great staff with really seedy regulars. Loved it. Then back to my friend Abi’s with Jimmy B and Ben (More friends) who had driven all the way from York to see us. Thankyou boys. A few rums later and at about 5am we were all passing out so sleep was on the cards as I had to trek across London back to the guys for 11am.

A big Thankyou to Colin (One of Tallah’s friends) for putting us up. Hope we didn’t destroy your living room too much.

Anyhoo, onto Leeds for another foxx adventure. My neck of the woods. Yorkshire. Beautiful!

Thursday Morning

Ahhhhhhhhhh! A Bakewell Tart for breakfast! Genius. On the road to London now. Looking forward to seeing some friends I haven’t seen for ages. I hope they enjoy us. I always get nervous when friends who haven’t seen us before come to a gig. I always feel that they’re surprised by how we sound and how many of us there are. Hopefully that’s a good thing tho.

We were in discussion this morning about the Jesus h. Foxx musical. How wicked would it be to half way through a set go into a musical. Mike sat at the top of some stairs with a full moon in the background singing “Ain’t so baaaaaaaad, Ain’t so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!”. A beautiful scene it would be, I think you’ll all agree! Anyhoo I’m going to try and sort out these photos and videos so I can get them up on here asap. This is Rich, Crossing the Severn Bridge, Signing off.

Wednesday Evening

Once we’d packed everything up and parked our beloved van at Chris’ we wandered into Cardiff to sample the beers and sights. It’s so hard to walk anywhere as a band as we’re always losing people. A few of us had gone to O’Neil’s for food and left Richie, Neil, Mike and Tallah to go to Primark. Sat in the pub having a nice pint and Richie, Neil and Mike turn up. At which point Mike says “Hang on! Have we just left Brash in Primark?”. They had.

Afterwards we took the whole posse back to the Buffalo Bar where we’d played the night before. Here are some photos from the gig:

Holly Golightly was playing I think but it was very quiet. A real shame as she's meant to be great.

We were joined briefly by some crazy hippy couple who just came and sat with us. I think the girl was called Olga or something like that. They were very nice but didn’t seem to know what was going on as the fella told me they’d been on an all day bender on booze and drugs and they were about to go to an all night party in a fancy dress shop! No Joke. Turns out he was going on tour with his Anarchist Folk Rock band today to Ireland. Again, NO JOKE! He asked us to go.........................we politely declined.

Got back to Tallah’s friends (Jen) about 12, all of us popped a couple of Nytol after the previous night’s attempt at sleep and we drifted off into Foxx land…………………ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Day 2 done and we’re still here. Let’s hope we can keep it up in London tomorrow.

Goodnight.

Apologies!
